Paw Print & Mail is committed to protecting our environment through these green initiatives.

Presstek DI Full Color Press:

• Chemistry-free printing press producing no hazardous waste or heavy metals in the printing process
• Quick makeready requiring 50-75% less waste paper to set up job

Recycled House Stocks:

• Uncoated: Rolland Opaque, FSC certified, contains 30% post consumer waste, is certified Environmental Choice, and manufactured using bio-gas energy
• Coated (both gloss and silk): Galerie Art, FSC certified, contains 30% recycled fiber using totally chlorine free pulp using timber from managed forests

Inks: soy/vegetable-based inks used for all printing

Pressroom Solvent: Varn A230, ultra-low VOC, nearly odorless, zero reactivity, and water-miscible

Chemistry Disposal: Chemgon cubes to dispose of platesetter chemistry. Each 5 gallon Chemgon container converts chemistry to an inert solid which can safely be disposed of at a conventional landfill.

Carbon Offsets: Paw Print & Mail is a member of Native Energy – a world-wide provider of carbon offsets. Since 2003, all of the energy used at Paw Print (electricity, natural gas heat, and fuel for company vehicles) is offset by wind generated power.

Leftover and Waste Paper: donated to local schools and daycare centers

Single-sided Printed Waste Stock: reused on the unprinted side for internal printing and copying

Recycling: All waste stock, cardboard, and trimmings are recycled

Energy Efficient Lighting: All lighting in the shop has been replaced with high efficiency lighting ballasts and bulbs through Efficiency Vermont’s Geo-Targeting program.
